RISING - Reshaping behavioural Interventions for Sleep In NeuroGenetic syndromes

This project is due to launch in September 2026 - check back for updates and news of how to get involved! If there are any questions in the meantime, please contact jxj130@student.bham.ac.uk.

What is the study about?

The aims of this project are to explore how co-developed behavioural sleep interventions can be used to better support sleep in children with rare genetic syndromes who experience sleep difficulties, and to improve our understanding of how sleep is associated with children's daytime outcomes (e.g., executive function, anxiety) and parent wellbeing.

The research team will work with parents and caregivers of children with genetic syndromes and healthcare professionals to co-develop behavioural sleep interventions.

Who can take part?

We will be inviting children, aged 4 to 15 years, with a rare genetic syndrome who experience poor sleep, and their parents or caregivers, to take part.

What will be involved?

The project will involve a series of phases involving a telephone interview, games, sleep assessments (using MotionWatches), and a sleep intervention tailored to each child and their family.
